“At eg” is astride on a horse//Atïγ > atyg? There are researchers who have translated these words (a word?) in 5,6 lines of the El Etmish Yabgu inscription: (tag?, tyg? W.Radloff), some scientists explained as “bek” (Bek of Oguz - S.Malov), “teg” (“tura” - direct, “dein” – until, to, H.Orhun), «Atig» (the ethnic name - T.Tekin) “tyg” (“strong” - A.S.Amanzholov). There is no reason to consider these words as the ethnic name. The phrases “ekin ara: at eg yaγï: bolmuš:” (10-line), “at eg: yaγï: ermiš:” (5,6-lines) mean «Distant enemies to whom it was possible to reach only astride a horse». |
