Chaa-Hol II (e-14) inscriptions, The

Чаа-Холь II, Е 14

Location

Monuments of this group were found in a valley near the river Chaa-Hol, the left inflow of Ulug-Hem, in 25 km above the mouth of river Hemchik. This district is on the bottom of water basin Sayano-Shushenskii now. All monuments of the group, except Е 15, are in museum exhibitions.

The stone was delivered by researchers of Tyva Museum and Tyvan Institute of Science and Research of Language, Literature and History to the Tyva museum in 1961.

Specification

The stele is made from gray-green slate, quadrangular in cross section. The surface is polished. The top is rounded off. Sides are precisely expressed.

The inscription is in 3 lines. It is located vertically on three sides of the stele. The termination of line 2 is brief at top. There is a tamga below the line 1.

Size

Height – 115 cm, length – 41 cm, width – 20 cm

Researches

Aspelin found in 1888, following the message received from Saf’yanov. The stele is examined and copied by Klemets in 1891, more successfully by Oshurkov in 1892.

Various editions of the text considerably differ. The text is studied by I.V.Kormushin and others.
