Reading
Separate sign  corresponds to the sound з /зы/ in Kazakh language.
For example, the sound з in word ( ) біз (we).
Differentiation
It is differed from other signs by its form.
Place
The sign can be met in the beginning, middle and end of the word. When it is in the beginning of the word it is often read as "аз", "ез", "ыз", "із".
Transcription

In transcription this sign is marked with Latin letter z. For example, [biz] біз; [boz] боз (light grey).
