In Turkic written language there are eight vowel sounds «а,е,о,ұ,ө,ү,ы,і». These eight vowels are marked with four signs compactly. They were used to distinguish a word or its endings. The vowels occur rarely in the root of the word. For example, in words «бар», «бер» - «БР» is marked in two forms: hard and soft. Labial vowels in words «бор, бұр» are marked «Б-о//ұ-Р», in words «бөр,бүр» as «Б-ө/ү-Р», in word «быр» as «Б-ы-Р», in word «бір» as «Б-і-Р».
In the middle or in the end of the word, especially in endings of a form «а/е», «о/ұ», «ө/ү», «ы/і» vowels were marked only with four signs.
Vowel sounds were not marked often. Vowels corresponding to sounds О, Ұ, Ө, Ү had been written in the root of a word. Sounds corresponding to sounds А, Е, Ы, І are not often met in the beginning of a word. They are used in the end of a word.
