The inscription which we are going to read is Turkic inscription. The following words written with paint should be read from the right to the left. Here you can see the Turkish word “bitik” and the words with same stem. These words were written at the end of memorial’s text. The word “bitik” was used when they wanted to give information about the author, carvation time of it and who it was dedicated to. There are transcriptions in square brackets. They will help to read words properly.

The Turkic text which has been carved on a special stone, such old Turkic monuments were called stele. According to old traditions covered inscriptions were called “eternal stone”.

It means “I wrote”. On the second side of the Kultegin stele there are the words that had been writing this tombstone for 20 days. The person who wrote a text on the stone was called “bitikshi”. Secretary of Kagan also was called as “bitikshi”.

It means that if you save an order to somebody to write. |
